“Energy is …” That’s how the ad starts… at least the one that haunts me regularly on that video platform. Before I start looking at a certain video clip my earphone shouts out those words. As soon as I hear the “E” of “Energy” I skip the ad. I don’t have the desire to continue to listen to the text that follows.
In reality I should have been interested in the ad. Being educated as an engineer the word “energy” is not a stranger to me and I have nothing against ads. But hearing that word continuously, countless times, had a very negative influence on me.
If you are an entrepreneur marketing actively in the world of digital media you have to be careful. Technology has changed the ways media functions but it didn’t change how people react.
If you feed people beyond their capacities you have to be ready to expect an outburst, the type of which you might not be able to foresee. And most of the time you cannot even make good the damage you have caused.
