Assume, you got lost in thought… A business idea has popped up in your mind. You imagine yourself applying that business idea successfully. I think very few of us would try to imagine how we would fail in that venture instead of having success.
You prepare a SWOT analysis for your new or well-established business by listing the strengths and weaknesses of your company along with the opportunities and risks it has. Why not apply a SWOT analysis also to your aspirations? As you apply it, you will see in time that you can eliminate some of those ideas, which would not seem to be realistic.
Some of you will say, “The attraction of dreaming is in being able to “experience” the beauty of what could be even unrealistic though you don’t intend to put them into practice.” You’re right. However, think that you can implement all your remaining dreams after having eliminated those, which could lead to failure. Now, you have only dreams of success to choose from!
The writer Paul Sweeney says, “True success is overcoming the fear of being unsuccessful.”
Focusing only on dreams with successful outcomes will give you a higher chance to implement at least one of them.
