This is how Eos Karlsson describes what he does in his promotional video: “I’m a stuntman.”
thefreedictionary.com describes stunt as,
1. A feat displaying unusual strength, skill, or daring
2. Something done to attract attention or publicity
A stuntman is someone who performs dangerous stunts, often as a career, intended for use in motion pictures or dramatised television. Stunts are usually rigged so that, while they look dangerous, safety mechanisms are built into the performance.
I don’t work in the movies, but I have used many stuntmen in my professional life. Most probably you have, too. ☺
Now and then you need people in business who have strengths and skills you don’t possess. He or she might be your friend, your partner, someone working for your organisation or your lawyer. They should act on your behalf and within well-defined boundaries. They are your ‘go-to guy’ for certain situations – this is the trusted person you send to a client who drives you crazy instead of visiting the client yourself!
The major difference in using a stuntman in business as compared to the movies is that in business, the scenes are unlikely to be life-threatening or really dangerous.
Usually the only thing at risk for a stuntman in business is the relationship they have with you. As a result, it is advisable to communicate openly with your stuntman about his assignment – what you need him to do for you. That way, resentment doesn’t build over time.
